Does anyone know the schedule of the train trestle on the Ashley past Duncan’s? I went out a couple of weeks ago, the trestle was down, couldn’t fit under in my boat. Went this week and it was up, but was scared to go under and get stuck. Seems like I remember this was always up and only was put down when there was a train on the way, but don’t know for sure and didn’t see any sign with any info on it. Thought I’d ask and see if any know for sure. Just don’t want to go under one day and get stuck on the wrong side of it! TIA.
I beep my horn and they raise it. When I come back I beep and they do the same.
What I don’t know is if there’s a time that the bridge isn’t manned.
There is a guy that operates the bridge and if I’m correct the hours are 7 am to 11 pm. There is a sign on the summerville side of the bridge that has the hours of operation on it.

Someone had said they were keeping it open until a train comes instead of opening and closing it for boat traffic, maybe that is just for weekends? I am curious as well. You would think it would be much easier just to close it for the train as that is pretty much a known and set schedule.
From my experience: it’s always closed unless you ride by and honk.
7am-11pm is correct, and yes on the weekend if it is closed there is a train coming. If you beep and the tender doesn’t respond there is a train coming. The bridge tender for CSX is kinda scary, when a train is coming he won’t open even sometime when they are still a long way down the tracks. lol

I live very close to the bridge. Since moving there, I had a number of issues with the attendant not arriving until after 7:00. The Federal registry dictate opening hours.
After a lot of going around, things have gotten a lot better for me. Now they open on demand between 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM with 24 hours notice (5:00 AM) and most times the attendant is there on time.
