Ashley River

Trying to learn the Ashley. Anybody have reliable areas to net finger mullet and shrimp for bait. Most places I can see them I can’t reach them because the mud flats are so shallow. Thoughts?

What part of the Ashley? What is your draft?

Before the water touches the grass, you can catch good numbers of fishing sized shrimp right off the ramp at Leed’s this time of year Once that water gets to the grass, its harder to catch bait.

Also watch for flipping menhaden in deeper water in the Ashley. Menhadden make great bait. Be sure to let your net hit the bottom.
