For all you Ashley folks church creek has good fishing. The crab slammed it and wouldnt let go.
Is it just me or are flounders really common this year. Ive been catching them everytrip and everywhere from open water to brackish ditches. Small paddle tail swim baits in a natural minnow pattern.
I think its correlated to when they open commercial shrimping. If the opening is late, the juvies have time to get inshore.
Winter freeze = late opening = good flounder year
At least that’s the working theory

Not a bad theory. I just assumed less reds and trout allowed me to catch more flounder. It seems in the areas i fish there are smaller numbers of everything but flounder and ive seen reds in areas i dont see them usually. Ive also got more comfortable keeping my lure on the bottom. Its basically my first year primarily fishing arties inshore so i do cover more water.
