I am planning a trip to Folly/Charleston next week 21-28th. I have never fished Charleston area and was looking for some advice on where to fish. I am going to be fishing from my 17 foot flat boat and want to get into some drum in the backwaters. Wondering if anyone could point me in a direction (landmark, area, anything). Will be staying in folly beach, and launching from the folly beach ramp.
Any help would be appreciated.I don’t want to get skunked!
bring a cast net the bait fish are everywhere and fish along the grass with popping cork with live bait not live store bought bait but fresh out the water bait if you can’t throw a cast net then practice but if you can’t throw then practice rite now there are no really bad spots .
When you ride around like Rapchizzle suggests do it at low water to reveal oyster beds and structure to fish over when water gets up…great advice from BuckBass on cast net…Good Luck
I guess the main issue is that I know nothing about the Charleston area as far as fishing goes. I know how to fish reds, just have no idea will be more conducive this time of year for some reds. Didn’t know if areas such as Morris island lighthouse inlet, Bowen island, oak island or little oak island areas were areas is where i should start looking. And as far as a guide, i would love to, but i just cant afford the extra money right now…economy sucks, and this is my cheap way of fishing, and getting a family trip in as well.
