attaching troll motor to canoe project.

Since I have seen some kayaks with trolling motors on them in the paradise island area, I thought this would be the best forum to get ideas on my project.

I have a old town discovery 16ft canoe and an endura 36" 40lb trolling motor. I have the paperwork and registration from DNR. I just need to attach.

My thoughts are to attach outrigger style.

Would I attach in the back or the middle of canoe for more balance weight?

How much weight on the non motor side of canoe for balance?

Looks like I can attach with C clamps due to lip on rails.

Anybody have experience with trolling motor on canoe or any better ideas to attach.

Thanks.

There are brackets available just for that reason. You can also make your own.
if you do some googleing, you’ll find what your are looking for.

you could put the battery up front for ballast and the motor by the rear seat.

Seen it a few times just make sure you have numbers on that boat and it’s registered if you have that motor on it… DNR ain’t playin anymore and will ticket you for anything if it ain’t all legal…

Bought my numbers for the canoe today. Looks kidda funny with the numbers on a canoe. But what DNR wants DNR gets.
