Attempting to buy a new truck in this current time....

Well my guys call it a grocery getter .
O’ the shame of it all…

This poor old box has hung in there for a long time have had to rivet the hinges back on several times . The locks work and I actually have a key. It was on a dually that I had back in 2005.

I still got my 2500 in Greenville Going to take a trailer and drag it back to the beach. Recently found a running motor to rebuild and put in it.

You find things offensive. I find things funny. That's why I'm happier than you.

22 life’s a day

I have a 1999 S10 that only has 95,000 miles on it. It runs great but everything that is rubber on the front suspension squeaks. Both boys drove it through high school, and one through college. The clear coat is peeling now so it doesn’t look too good but, it runs/rides well and the AC works. Wouldn’t get much selling it so I use it to drive to Lowe’s on the weekends. We’ve put 400 miles on it the last 8 months.

"Apathy is the Glove into Which Evil Slips It's Hand", but really, who cares?

Put a new battery in my truck and hosed up the clock. My touch screen is messing up it will not let me reset the clock. So yesterday at noon I unhooked the battery for a minute to reset the clock. I have it on a 24-hour clock now it’s backwards. I guess I need to go out at midnight tonight and do it again.
They want $1,000 to replace the the stereo / touch screen.
Modern technology ain’t it wonderful

Chevy?

When my touchscreen started acting up I found it was partially due to dust, dirt, and grit along the very edges.

I vacuumed around it then gave it a good windex dousche and it seems to have worked.

Occasionally I have to shut off the truck and restart it to make it work again, but that helped mine

Cleaned it around the edges screens just pretty much shot. Tell the functions work on the touch screen.

Does it have a setting option for a 12 hr. clock?

Yeah it’s got a 12 or 24 hour clock but I have it on the 24-hour clock. It wouldn’t change if I wanted too. I’m usually up àt 2400 hours anyway.
For some reason I don’t sleep 4- 5 hours a night anyway

Try looking on YouTube for problems with that radio.
If you can’t resolve the issue, just replace it with a aftermarket one.

I hate that your touch screen is messed up, but I couldn’t help laugh at your solution!! Creative mind you have there brother!

There are after market ones, but it needs to be programed to your VIN. GM should reflash the software for free. There are known problems with those screens that they refused to recall.

I’ve seen the aftermarket ones programed with VIN for around $400. Dealerships are crooks.

Another solution is to remove the screen from the truck, disconnect the touch screen glass ribbon, and then reinstall. Then everything will work off the buttons or voice command, you just won’t have touch screen. I did that to my old truck and it worked fine.

I think what happens, and this is just my opinion, it’s that over time the individual pixels get damaged either by dirt, debris,
or getting too hot in the sun and begin to give false readings.

You’ll never fix it, you just have to replace the unit to get full functionality back.

I had thought about aftermarket. But really not that much cheaper.Never thought about having to have it flashed. So that actually makes the factory one cheaper.
Didn’t think about resetting my clock till about quarter after last night. Maybe tonight.

Have you tried a software update?

No.
Talk to a couple tec’s that work at Bell and Bell. They both told me it’s toast.
And that’s a pretty common failure.

It is a common failure. Does the touchscreen work at all now? If its only the clock messing up, I wouldn’t think that would be worth $1,000 to me.

No pretty much nothing works on the touch screen. Can’t program any of the stations or anything like that.

Transmission took a poop yesterday.
I knew it was coming I’ve been getting a little bit of torque converter shutter.
At least it took a poop here at the beach and not on the road somewhere. Shop said he had parts in stock. Probably 10 days I’ll have the truck back. $3,800… Almost everything he had around there was GMCs and Chevrolets.

Sorry to hear that OTC. Is he putting in a reman or rebuilding it? I’ve found in a lot of cases it’s easier to do a reman that comes with a decent warranty. I’m sure he’ll do it but make sure he flushes you trans cooler to get any contaminated fluid out.

They’re doing a rebuild. I’m looking at 2 weeks to get a remanufactured.
I’ve never dealt with them. But I know a couple people that have had transmissions rebuilt by them in their trucks for 2 and 3 years with no issues.

Buddy just had his transmission go at 110k miles. GMC Sierra 1500. I think the estimate he got was like $7000 new

I traded my 2014 Silverado in with 170k miles and the transmission in it was starting to knock.

They just don’t build them like they used to.
