Hi guys…typically we’d look at doing these on the first Saturday of the month, but we just had the July M&F last weekend after the weather delay.
Want to space it out a bit, further into the month of August? If y’all want to do it on Aug. 3rd, someone else will need to do the organizing for it, as I will be in Savannah that weekend fishing the IFA kayak tournament. No problem at all if the group wants to do that!
With the IFA in Savannah this weekend, turn out might be sparse. Weather permitting, I’m planning on fishing on Saturday with my neighbor. I was thinking about either Paradise or behind Sullivans. I’m all for pushing the meet and fish back a week so we get a better turn out. And, if anyone wants to join me on Saturday they are welcome.
I might join you and your neighbor this weekend, but if not it will because we might take my stepson to Carowinds. This is our last weekend with him until next summer. Otherwise I will let him and his dad have a father and son day to themselves. They like to bond over videogames, legos, and super hero movies.
I’m thinking about fishing out of Garris Landing. I’ve never fished there before. But it looks like a good place. Anyone have any experience or advice?
J.P.,
What time are you thinking about going out? We decided to just find a local water park to take Gabe to instead of spending all day and night driving to and from Carowinds. It looks like I will most likely get to come out. Also, I seem to have lost my phone.
Probably around 8:00 or 9:00. Have to be off the water by 3:00-3:30. There is a waterpark at Wannamaker Park in N.Chas. My kids have season passes and they seem to like it.
Ok, So how about this: Unofficial Meet & Fish this Saturday at Garris? It’s over an hour drive for me, but, I’m going to try to get there by 8:00 and sling a net for some bait. Launch between 8:30 and 9:00.
We can have the regular Meet & Fish another weekend since Lewis and a bunch of the guys are fishing the IFA in Savannah. Best of luck guys. Represent Charleston well.
Just letting everyone know that I had some crazy neurological symptoms earlier in the day, so I don’t think it would wise for me to venture out on my kayak until I talk to my doctor. I certainly wouldn’t be able to paddle or fish in the state that I was in earlier today if I ended up with another episode out on the water, much less be able to drive back and forth.
I wish all of you the best of luck! J.P. promised to save a few fish for me to catch on my next trip out. Feel free to go ahead and catch them though and drop them by. I will have the grill fired up and ready to go when you get here.
I guess it was an unofficial meet, ha ha. Only saw one other kayaker, I think it was Dave, in a white Malibu. Paddled out to Bull’s Bay and back. Managed to hook one slot Red, 19". Had a good time none the less. The weather was spectacular.
We were out there. Didn’t see anyone at the ramp but did run into a bunch of people in the creeks. We didn’t have much luck. Caught a few sharks and lost a spec at the boat. We saw redfish everywhere but couldn’t get them to eat. I tried mullet, minnows, shrimp and artificials. The Bonnetheads were all over the place. This summer has been tough.
