Auto Electric

Other than Cannons Auto Electric what are some decent auto electric shops? Any near the James Island area? I am trying to avoid going to the dealer to solve this problem on a Jeep with 225,000 miles on it:

Brake lights work fine when headlights are off. When you turn the headlights on the rear right running light (brake light) works and the left one is out. But when you hit the brakes with the head lights on, the left brake light works and the right one is out. Both bulbs are fine. My assumption is that it is a bad relay or switch or a crossed wire.

You didn’t put the bulb in backwards, did you?

I did that once on an old set of trailer lights and had a similar issue.

Sounds like a bad ground which could take 10 minutes or 10 hours to find.

I have seen that over a dozen times over the years. 1156 rammed in 1157 sockets, etc. The circuits will backfeed and cause all kinds of problems.

Carolina auto electric down by the Pepsi distribution center is pretty good.

Thanks for the replies. I don’t think I put the bulb in backwards. I don’t know how that would be possible but I will re check it.
