Auto Part Question

I am getting ready to order a bunch of parts from Rockauto.com. One of the items I plan to order is a transmission filter/gasket for a Chevy S10 w/4.3 L Vortec, automatic trans. The problem is that there are 2 different filters, one for a “shallow” pan and one for a “deep” pan. Stupid question but, how do I know whether the transmission pan is deep or shallow? I have no reference point. Any help, ideas?

As always, thanks.

Look under and if the pan is the same thickness, and “flat”, across the whole bottom it is shallow. If it starts out thin in the rear, then bumps up in thickness for about 3/4 to the front, its deep. I think they put shallow on the S10, and a deep pan on the old 1/2 tons, but not 100%.

Cool, thanks!
