Some of the new Rule bilge pumps have a feature that the pump cycles on every 2.5 min this happens all the time. Mine is hooked up so the bilge pump has current when the battery switch is off. It seem that this pump would be for a boat that stays in the water not on a trailer. The old switch set up would be a better style ? What do ya think ??
No reason to run the pump on the trailer unless you’re holding a grudge against your battery for some reason.
Put a switch in the line.

A switch on the console and a float switch should be sufficient. I test my float switch every other outing by filling the bilge with fresh water and ensuring the bilge comes on automatically. Also tests the bilge pump at the same time while cleaning out the bilge.

I have a switch on the console, that makes the pump run manualy, The new Rule pump that i have does’nt have a float in it, it is designed to cut on for 1 sec every 2.5 min, if it feels resistance, “water” then it empties out the bilge. My boat was wired so that the bilge pump has power all the time , even when the battery switch is off. Safety feature
It seems to me that itwould be a good pump feature for a vessel that is known to leak, shaft packings.rudders struts,ect. not a small boat
Won’t the float switch do the same thing AND not drain your battery?

I never understood why Rule built an automatic sensing pump in the first place. I much prefer having a float switch on the primary bilge pump and a manual back-up mounted a little higher JIC.
I bought one of those electronic water sensing pumps a few years back it only lasted a couple of months. Go with a float switch.

hey loose I’m with ya on not understanding why. Did’nt think it through the whole way when I got the auto cycling model,just read that it was the new style, so I jumped on it. Anybody want this one let me know.
