Looking at getting one of these. Wondering if anyone throws them in the surf? Which is what I plan to do. Any opinions on the mags and cast ability would be appreciated.
The mc’s are great from what I’ve seen and super popular inTexas, I’m not sure what you’re gonna be targeting but those sx’s are pretty small. Might be better off with an mx or mcl
Very dependable. Easy to service. Cast a mile. Only thin i don’t like is the anti reverse. It’s a dog gear and won’t fail but there is a little backplay with the handle. Not an instant anti reverse.
I have the MXJ. I’ve had it for about 8 years now. It’s been a solid reel and have caught barracuda, reds (including some big bulls), BSB, and dolphin on it.
Ill second the mxj reel. Mine are loaded with braid and they’ve defeated just about everything they’ve hooked. High quality and priced right.

Those look neat, how does the string wind back on the reel evenly without a worm gear? I’ve been using round ambassadeurs for the surf no complaints, I like to looks of these tho may be better for the big boys.
Cast net, you have use your thumb or finger to guide the line as you wind it in.
