awesome day with friends

stared the weekend off with a 5pt in velvet on friday eve, then decided we were smarter then the weather man, calling for NE 10/15 with three to four ft. seas and headed out with realfish01, brother in law, james c. and son to kill some fish! ride out was great and the seas layed down all day untill it was flat.frist dive the viz wasn’t great and james c. and eric sent us a legal grouper and stories of good lobsters with eggs. doing homework, so these were new #s but were encouraging. hit another # and the divers reported lots of lobsters that were skiddish with antennas laying on the bottom and a good gag with a hole in his head. somebody had hit this hole before we got there. hit another # and pay dirt! son got a legal cobia on the drop and as we were bagging him up a good hog came by and I put a spear in his cranium and sent him to the top with the cobia! after pumping fists and high 5ing our greatness we came upon a manta ray resting on the ledge and a school of 30 or so cobia between 30/50lbs in a ball above the ray waiting for him to go to work. we layed into them not shooting the biggest ones out of pure fear! as i bagged a good one my boy went by me twice being dragged by huge cobia he was trying to subdue, what a riot! we were sending fish to the surface as fast as we could fill the lift bags. bagged a good lobster and another hog before heading to the surface. got pulled of the last ledge by a very strong current then headed in at 50mph as eric let her go! great day on the water with my best friend (son) and great crew. ready to go next weekend, god willing and the weatherman is f—ed up!

Hey Bug, you already said that the viz was poor on the first dive, but how about the rest of the day? Did you ever see any decend viz?

skinniej, we were a few miles south of the deckhouse and the viz in 85’ was about 10’ and no current, we moved northeast 9 miles in 90’ and the viz was 40’ after going through a soupy thermo in 60’. the tide had turned and the current was rippen on top of the reef but was great behind the ledges. two divers made a dive in 65’ on the way back in were we slayed them last week on yellow fever but the current was hauling ass and the viz was 6/8’. missed the ledge and called it a good day!

If it got any better I couldn’t stand it.
