awesome time in costa rica and nicaragua

Went down to Nicaragua and Costa Rica for vacation and decided to do some fishing as well of course. In Costa Rica we left out of Playa Flamingo onboard the Plautus, which is a great boat with a very experienced captain and crew. We had a sailfish come up in the spread but never got him to take any. A little while later we hooked up to a big blue marlin. This was my dad’s first marlin and its been his dream for a long time. It was taken in two hours on 30 pound class tackle :sunglasses:. It was successfully released boat side and never taken out of the water. The captain said it was about 500+ pounds. We had a few more sailfish come up the rest of the day but never got any hooked up. It was still a very memorable experience with the family. We later fished in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua where my brother and I caught two roosterfish on a half, but very windy day.

congrats & great pics. you gotta love central america.

Those are some nice shots. You guys did well, congrats.

Nice job. I was in Tamarindo from the 5th to the 12th of July, and did not have any luck on the billfish. Going back in Feb. for 2 weeks for the big bill bite. Congrats to your dad on his first mariln.

Yeah we caught it on July 5. From what the captain said, they had not been having that great of luck around that time, but i guess we were just lucky.

Very nice pictures, nice fish.

Beautiful pic’s of those Rooster fish.
Congrats.
