Has anyone installed an airmar b164 in a 2012 masters 227. The ducer just came in, but I’m hesitant to cut a 3 3/4" hole in the hull. Its a beast. Thinking I may use one of the pump pickup spots just have to enlarge the hole. If anyone has tips or pics, please share.

make sure you are close to the transom and the keel
if not, you will get sir, and lose bottom lock
to enlarge the hole, use the proper size hole saw, and cut a template from a 1/4" piece of plywood, so you have a guide to keep the saw from jumping around until the teeth get started.

Another way to enlarge an existing hole, if your hole saw arbor allows. First put the large saw on the arbor, then screw on a saw the size of the original hole on top of that. The smaller hole saw will pilot the larger one.

I made a plug for the existing hole, and used the 3 3/4" saw. Tested it out and held bottom to 42 mph. Lot better than the p66. Can’t wait to get back offshore to look at my bottom numbers.
