Back creek bait report

So a lot of our water ways have fresh water that runs to them. This can change the temperature and salinity. Ive heard that these lower salinity waters can attract and hold fish. I decided to do a bait check, this was in a brackish creek pocket at low tide. The water was very salty considering the bream and crappie, but they could of followed the tide down and not stay there at high tide. I did not fish the backwaters or close to them. We cruised the stono instead and lunched on a island and let bait soak. Top of the tide no action but crabs. In general there are still a decent amount of mullet around and plenty of minnows. The tiny ghost shrimp are starting to show alot around rocks and oysters and the crabs are still crawling. In a few weeks ill do another bait report.
Mud minnows, killfish, threadfin, bream, crappie and mullet all in a 3ft radius.

Over sized bubbler creates enough flow to keep baits like threadfins and mullets alive. I over loaded the bucket but you just do a water exchange every couple hours and your bait stays fresh. The mud minnows were extra wiggly.

also find that if you set your bait in a bucket for a few minutes after catching them and let them settle down and then change the water they keep better.

Best and most important report of the year. Hat off to you sir!

Great, just need to find them myself. Did a bait check Fri at a goto hole, came up empty.

Ya know, it must be nice living in Neverneverland. Remind me to come visit you, when I need a break from reality.

This was great! Very cool to see a lot of bream in there. Also, that is a LOT of mudminnows to catch in one throw. I’m still catching little snook and shad over by a JI spillway.

After looking at them closer 1 was a gizzard shad and 1 was a threadfin. I also saw a ton of fiddlers. The winter glass minnows/silver sides/bay anchovies/sperring/rain bait what ever you want to call them should be here or show up soon. We get several kinds and some are clear, white and silver but some have a light translucent purple. They range from 2 to 6 inches and are really fragile and dont stay on a hook well. Lots of artificial imitations of them though.
