Took the kayak out with my fishing buddy on the stono and spent the better part of our time working the way back part of the small creeks. Managed to do pretty well with live shrimp under a popping cork! All were below size limit but I wasn’t going out to keep any anyways. I was fishing right smack dab in-between the high and low tide as it was falling. Some of the most fun fishing you can have is in a kayak way the hell up a tiny creek!
NICE!! I’d be afraid of getting lost going up those small creeks in a kayak. Tide going out, you can’t see over the top of the grass…how do you know where you are??
Smart phones and mapping are amazing now a days. Besides that, the location of the sun if it aint too cloudy works pretty good along with the tide taking you back to big water.
Like Fred said, smartphones are about all you need nowadays- satellite images on google maps does the trick! But i just always make sure i have at least a foot or two under me the whole time so if the tide does drop a bunch before i get out i still have a few inches to spare.
