back from oregon inlet w/pics

I told some here i would post when i returned from my striper/tuna trip up to Oregon inlet NC. The weather was tough but we did get out 3 out of the 5 days there. We found the striper 37 miles north of the inlet as they had not moved down yet. here are some pics of a nice limit. We caught 25-30 nice fish and left them biting with sore arms. The interesting part we were alone all morning not another boat in site. We did make one try offshore and battled 4-6ftrs 35 miles out around what they call the point looking for yellow fin. Nothing doing , managed 5 small blackfin tuna football size enough for some really nice caviche. After the cold snap and two days of bad weather we went after striper again and they were gone. Boats everywhere looking but no joy. We never did go chase the bluefin because of the aforementioned weather issues.Disapointing after our success the first day but thats fishing. all in all a good trip. here are a couple of photos. The best part was sharing it with my wife and son , they were worn out and cried uncle after battleing all they wanted.

nice catch man. those are some pretty fish, and fight like hell too. thanks for sharing. i love stripers! (not strippers)

*curious, what did you use for the bass? menhaden?

Very nice gettn the boy on some fish. You did a heck of alot better than my freezenarse last week. It’s one thing to be cold and catching, another to just be fishig in the cold.

for Kut08
We pulled stretch 25s in close and ran parachute jigs rigs w/ chartruese shad imitation on the outriggers. When we went under birds and marked fish /bait got knocked down every time. we even had a triple on one. Deck rodeo insued. I don’t run umbrella rigs unless i’m desperate as it takes alot of the fight out of catching em.
The tough part isn’t catching them but finding the schools.
We were 1 for two on that deal.
