what a day . we caught 2 stripers 21 -25 -5 bass and a cappie all by the dam. not another fish past the island so i guess there all by the dam
OOO DNR was out today and gave 2 of the guys(with us) tickets for no life vests
and one for no fishing lic .
I hope the ticketed weren’t people we know…

How many fished ? … what did ya’ll catch the stripes on ? …sorry to hear about the tickets…maybe a good thing though …yakfishing(especially behind a running dam) can be dangerous !
In the beginning there were four of us. Two were new to kayaking in the river. They were in a triple kayak and yes I agree kayaking in the river near the dam and rapids can be dangerous. We caught the stripes on live minnows. So needless to say they will have their fishing license and life-jackets next go round.

I have read the same reports you are talking about…now through may …the fishing only gets better…I will contact you next time I head to lake Murray …try to work on a live bait set-up for your yak as that seems to be the most efective

I got reservations for Dreher island this coming weekend… might throw a line out Saturday.

cutmullet pm or call me (864-230-9621) …I have another sot yak(not very dry) with lowrance ff and a live bait set up you could use if you like.Otherwise get some bucktails(I like stump-jumpers cause of the small spinners) …something topwater in case they come up schooling(smaller the better is what I have ben reading) …I just asked a guy on the striper forum about an “ice fly” …he reported he has doing well on (I have no knowledge here) Stillfishin …come on up if you can…If cut doesn’t want to use my perception …you can try it out
i would love to come but the wife wants to go to the beach 
so ill be fishing on the pier
