Back in the Water

Been on the rail since hurricane Florence haul out, going ahead and getting the winter stuff done while she was in the yard. Decided to take advantage of a good forecast Friday and do some bottom fishing. Didn’t get the flat ocean I was expecting early but was still nice and got better as the day went on. Don’t do a lot of bottom fishing but when I do I am after triggerfish. Everything else is either given away or goes to tailgating fish fry, but we keep the triggers. Our guests know that boat policy is we split the catch equally among the crew, except fir triggerfish which go to the owners - Dad and I. It has been pointed out to me the policy is not fair. Don’t care. Fished around 100ft all day. Tried a spot I had marked but had never fished. Hardly anything on sonar but was loaded with nice triggerfish. Limited on vermillion as well. Only two BSB all day. Great to be back out on the water and get the boat some work.

Thanks for the report. “Unfair” is the cost and stress of boat ownership and keeping the crew safe and rods bent.

And, me love some triggers. Love catching them and really love eating them!
