Back to Basics - BSB's - Pioneer 186 Cape Island

Went out yesterday since it has been too long without knocking dust off my tackle.

Cousin came over around 10AM, and we eased over to Haddrells to buy some bait on the way to Folly.

Got to the lighthouse around 11:30, and rode out a little ways.

The water in shallow seemed to be a little too cold for the grouper bite, but the C bass didn’t care. They were happy to see us.
Think we have a shortage of black sea bass?
Watch this.

So, we got back to the ramp before 3 and went home after an easy day with some filets for Christmas presents.

High fives- per person!

Miss your reports and posts…glad you got out there to give us one. That Pioneer looks pretty sweet especially with that big 'ol Simrad on it,.

I’ve got that same boat in teal- not brave enough with it yet to go too far out though. How many ft were you in, Phin?

PS - just watched, that is a great vid

Couldn’t have planned that video better!

There is no shortage they know it,we know,it was a manufactured crisis…

In 50 years of fishing I’ve never seen a shortage of BSB, large and small. How many you want?

That video reminded me of this picture, it’s about 30 years old and it ain’t changed much, except the fish are getting bigger and more plentiful than they were then  We used these small ones for live bait back when it was legal. Put about 50 of them in the live well and then go fishing:smiley:

Not many bottom fish that taste better to me than blackfish. Better than grouper or snapper, only slightly below triggers and hogs:smiley:
