yup im home for about a month before going to my next duty station. gotta love small towns ive already found a ton of people i know without even planning on meeting them. shame it isnt deer season i saw a doe in a bean field behind the in laws house bigger than both the bucks i got in charleston! fishing trip #1 also begins in a few minutes…felt weird not having to look at the tide schedule for once.

Yeah, but we just got a fresh crop here in PI. They’re just trading out.[:0]

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

made it to an upground reservoir today with someone i used to fish with a lot back home and not too shabby of a 1st trip. didnt find any saugeye to bring home but we each got several white perch a piece and i got a 14-16" channel cat all on a crawler harness. hopefully that same rig will land me some walleye early next week when im lookin to go out.
salty: some reason i aint suprised 1 bit. at least for your sake they only traded out instead of increased in population!
absolutely yellows are much better eating and are highly sought after up here. most people here regard white perch as a bait stealing trash fish (especially in lake erie) but they are still fun to catch on light tackle and having tried them myself they arent too bad on the table. any time i go out on a head boat in lake erie theres usually 1 or 2 people that want white perch to take home. for table quality i guess the best way to compare it would be bottom fishing for grouper (yellow perch) and catching an amberjack (white perch). when not full of worms amberjack tastes fine, however im sure just about everyone would say that grouper is far better.
will do! im gonna try to make it out tomorrow to the section of river i grew up fishing for some catfish and smallmouth. come to think of it i wonder how a poppin cork and small plastic crawdad would work for the smallies…may have to try that one!

Lol… you may be on to something there. I think I saw a similar setup with a worm on the end on a bass tourney…
havent been to lake erie yet but found a few more fish. tried a river in town and found a few small catfish and was able to nab a couple smallmouth. nothing big but nice to see a bronzeback again. also tried my favorite creek to fish at as a kid not 20 feet across and nabbed a couple carp that always sit under a berry tree that drops mulberries in the water. toss a berry on under a bobber while sight fishing and it gets smacked immediately. aside from the fish ive tried to buy ammo up north and its not much better than down south. i came in right when the place got a shipment and got some 9mm but the shipment of .22 LR was 4 boxes (before 1 got bought right away) of 50 rounds aside from a few boxes of .22 short. found the neighbors outside one evening and after a lengthy BS session traded a pack of ground wild hog for a bag of walleye that was fried up tonight. wow did i miss that!!!
