Was down in Florida to scallop and lets just say a broken fuel pump and ignition issue later, we spent more time being towed than scalloping. I was told by a mechanic in Florida that I probably have a bad ignition CDI because the motor would cut off once hot. By the end of the day it wouldn’t even turn over, but it would crank. Is there anyway to test the CDI?
you can check voltage going in and voltage coming out, but you need a DVA adapter to do it
Thanks, Chris! Do I take a reading from the charge coil using the DVA and then another reading coming out of the CDI unit to the ignition coil using a regular probe? I looked on youtube and that is what he was doing, but it is a different model. Also, where can you find what the voltages should be reading at each testing area?
