now don’t be greedy with the stripers.i also fish for them.i just divide my time between all of them, but be assured when i’m on the lake i’m on the look out for stripers.i will post any updates on the stripers.hope that you will do the same.

I’m mainly a cater. Do the stripers taste better the cats? I have never caught one, but I’m going to try this year, being I just about quit hunting. What is the difference between a streach 18,25,30, and magnum other than size and color and what are the best colors for now  And how fast do you troll them? I’m thinking just fast enough to make a small wake with my 16 footer  Thanks Guys for sharing all of the info

i don’t pull artificals for stripers.mainly down rods freelines and occassionly planer boards.

hey sharky; nice mess of cats. i have been a busy man these past two weeks but hope for a little break with turkey day coming up. let me know when the crappy start their silly stuff. looking forward to it.
by the way; we finished up my son’s fencea and it looks pretty good.

Gomer,
Lake Murray can be some great fishing but you live very close to some of the best catfish water in the country. I’m talking about the Santee Cooper lakes. These lakes are considered world class for catfish and also very good for stripers. Go to Black’s Camp or Harry’s or Atkin’s Landing and any of these people will steer you in the right direction for some very good fishing.

Mr Hardware

gomer hardware is right about santee if i lived closer i would be there.if you decide to fish murray let me know i will help you any way that i can.

My mailman just caught a 50# cat there this week. Sharky, it should be nice out there tomorrow. Not much wind, stable weather. The stripers should be hitting pretty good along with the cats. I will give you a call tonight.

I normaly fish out of Aitkens they keep telling me to fish out in front of the dam but in 4 trips I have yet to catch ONE FISH and I have fished along side some of the Locals who fire up their genarators an light up the world at night so much I didn’t even need to put my lighs out, but I haven’t seen them catch anthing much either. Last 2 times I went out I fished out toward the markers in the center of the lower lake caught just a few but not much to talk about. I don’t have any one to fish with so info is scarse. I’m still trying to learn the lake but begging your pardon IT’S A BIG ASS LAKE !!! I plan on going tomarrow morning if the wind stays down would have been a perfect morning today but I work 6 days a week and sunday is really the only time I have free. will let you know if anything is going on. I,ve read on the fishing report the strips are just now starting to school up.

keep your eyes on the Eastern Sky, He’s always watching

Did anyone make it out last weekend? If so, what was hitting the stripers or the cats? Any suggestions, where or how? I was thinking about giving it a shot this weekend. I wonder what 2 more feet of water in the lake will do to the fishing? It’s coming up fast.

yea the stripers were hitting and so were the cats.caught 6 keeper stripers only kept 2 to eat,the cats were still holding.the stripers were caught around dreher island 30ft water on live herring drifting.the lake was really muddy today.thinking about going out sunday.

Sharky
I saw you heading back in. My boat chewed up the second starter. I dont think it is the right one. the flywheel looks ok though. I just went out in with the trolling motor. I’ll have to hook up with you out there after I get my starter rebuilt. Which sucks because it looks like it will be nice this weekend. Also that launch at #3 is hard to find after dark. I thought they would have some lights there. spent three hours trying to find the launch with a trolling motor.

steelytom sorry to hear about that.why didn’t you call my cell?program it in your phone.yea if you’re not familiar with that area it can be a butt.which boat did you see?i was in my tracker.the boat in the pictures belong to my friend.you should have flagged him down he would’ve been glad to help.when you planning on heading back out?i’ll probably be going sunday give me a call if you are insterested.803 422 5288 cell.write it down and put it in your wallet.

Sharky - Those were some fine messes of cats!!!:stuck_out_tongue: Great catch even though you didn’t get on the stripers. You are just about to give me the feva!:smiley:Going to have to give them a try here soon.

Sharky,
I may be out for a while. Can’t spend much on myself until after christmas. The cheapest starter I found was $289. So it looks like Saluda trout fishing until January

went saturday ended up with one keeper striper,2 crappie a bass and several cats.the crappie hit planer boards as did the striper and bass.the cats were caught on down rods.and now i got to get a new trolling motor popped the head off mine saturday.
