Yeah, no doubt on the 15# fish, but as long as there are 40-50 lb fish around it is still interesting. I haven't heard of any yet, but I bet a few 60 lb fish will be caught in the next couple of weeks if not already.
The other good thing about them is that they are filler when targeting other species. They keep you awake.
To that point though, I don’t see how people stick it out to catch “a limit” of 60 fish. We will never catch 60 on my boat. They are a pain to release as well. It can’t be fun. I think people do it just to say they did it.
I would hope no boat ever brought in 60 dolphin. It would be unlikely all those fish would get cleaned and used (unless selling them commercially) and a lot would be wasted.

In these days of wierd weather/water …who knows…who cares. I would honsetly rather grouper hunt anyway. I think there is a lot of over thinking here. I have caught Yft’s in the middle of July… ( 12 yrs ago granted ) . I have been working my balls off, and my only trip we got aggravated with the weeds and got three Coreys, then came a little inside and busted some nice Scamp. One pushing 20 lbs. Funny thing is I would take a bsb at the supper table over everything. …So let the fishing chips fall where they may.
Have to agree with Skinny. It’s over. Sure someone will stumble on 10-12 fish but the majority will catch 2-5 on a day. The days of 25+ gaffer are over folks. What happened? When I first started fishing June was the best month. Now it’s mid April- mid May.

I wouldn't say it's "over". I just think it's going to be hit or miss at this point. There will still be some mega dolphin days, but I think there will be a lot of slow days too from here on out.
And I think those that stick it out will have some shots at 60+lb dolphin over the next few weeks.

Coming up on a school of peanuts and breaking out the spinning gear is not what we are referring to. We are talking gaffers.
Knot a work charters caught 51 dolphin on Sunday 65 miles out.
Yes I know. I was with Bugcatcher and we passed him on the same line and told him where they were. Who knows if it was the same school we left but there were out there thick but only in a few places. We were just tired of gold and wanted to catch some brown; which we did.
I was in 86 degree water last weekend and all I could find was peanuts. This weekend was all peanuts and we were bottom bumping. I am not sure how much trolling will be worth it at this point. I think searching for grouper would be where its at right now.
Charters are still pulling in some nice fish…they are there you just gotta find them…45 days a go they were more concentrated now they have alot of water to play in,harder to pin point but if you do,your on…
I’m going out tomorrow, but really have no idea where to start – I’m tempted to drop lines in 90-100 feet and head out deeper, but I’m worried it will be a waste of time. Obviously if I see a weedline shallow then I’ll work it, but I’m not sure what to do if I don’t see anything. Put out as soon as I see flyers?
I’ve got some buddies coming down from Greenville, so I don’t want to just go out and bottom fish. A few of them are pretty excited about trolling, but I just know it will be slow.
