Good luck to the both of ya. My next excursion is in march.
Where yall headed? CH- im headed in march as well for a four day “fix”. we might be renting a houseboat again around Isla or headed further down. did you hear that Cheeca lodge burned. largest blaze in da keys in 20y.
Did you check out the full Tarpon Season vid in the blog?? WOW! I’m heading to the Glades in March can’t wait!!

quote:No I had not. Thats terrible. Little rich for my blood, but would have taken a special lady down to stay there or something. March is a tough time there, fishing can be stellar if you catch it between fronts and nonexistent if not. Lower keys permit and florida bay tarpon being the stars of the month.

SC They should be out side at the capes full force by then. Those fish actually eat as compared to their ocean going brethren.
yea, the wife an I went to Cheeca and were kinda put off by the $$$. not the keys mentality, IMO. So Lorelei it twas, again, but never disappointing… to watch bad azz flats boats launching while enjoying a cocktail. someone there once told me “it only takes me 1 drink to get drunk…i just cant remember if its the 15th or 16th.” gotta love that!!!
we should make an annual CF fly-guys trip to the mecca motherland one day. On the houseboats we can sleep around 20(on 5 boats) very plush and fish nonstop. its kinda cheap, bout 1600 a boat per week. break it down and its prob cheaper than most accomidations there. i bet i can get us a killer deal if we rent the fleet. it is the best way to fish the keys.anyone interested in a late summer 09 trip? lemme know and i’ll get us a quote
I look to be there in late May early June as well. Don’t care what I catch as long as it tugs hard on the long rod.
I’d like to get a house boat and do the Marquesas for a few days in July. Permit fishing then is great and there are still a few tarpon around. Not much bonefishing but that could be done in Isla on the way down or back.
Love the Lorelei. Its one of the only places you might see a lil action in Isla. There is a term that a couple of guides and I came up with for most of the women down there. She is a “keys 9”, LOL. It can be decent during spring break, but mostly trash go down there then.
Going down for the tarpon migration in May. Got 3 days booked and a calendar counting down the days till I leave!!!
“Fishing is alot like sex…when its good,it’s really good, and when its bad, its still pretty good.”
Who ya fishin with?
I am going April 30th. Who are some of the decent guides?
Where? I can tell you the names of the absolute best in the keys. Now getting days with them during peak tarpon times, thats a different story.
