SO IVE ALWAYS USED FISH MEAL WITH CLAY THEN BAIT BINDER CAME OUT NOW IVE BEEN USEING THAT NOW THEY GOT DIFFERENT OILS TO ADD TO YOUR BAIT.JUST CURIOUS WHAT YOU THINK BETTER?? PERSONALLY GOING BACK TO MEAL & CLAY
I’ve always used just straight bait binder. Made them the night before and froze them. Seems to work for me
meal clay and rabbit pellots
Meal and flour works great
Rabbit pellets? I haven’t seen that used since late 80’s with chicken feed. I use red/orange clay which is free and 50lb fish meal which last me 2 seasons. For me price point is way cheaper per trip. That’s about 60 balls per trip.
Use what you have caught shrimp with and have confidence in. That is the best bait.
Retired - always broke – but better than working!!!
I had 3/5 gal. buckets of mixed clay and meal left from the year before. It didn’t smell strong so I mixed it with two cans of cheap mackerel when I made my balls, It worked well!
I use them all. I like bait binder for the convenience. Clay and meal is tried and true. I’ll stretch the meal out a little with chicken laying pellets if we’re shrimping a lot. A couple cans of Twin Pet or equally disgusting cheap cat food can boost the stink factor. If the shrimp are there it all works. If someone could come up with an IED to put in bait balls for flippers that would be something…:.
Not that I know from experience but Qbeam works on flipper. He doesn’t like bright lights.

Binder great for convenience - know that and it works.
Used Meal & clay for years. 50/50 is as much as will still stick together. You do want your balls to glaze and not fall apart.
Adding flour and you can go 70/30. The extra meal helps IMO
We have tried haden milk - oil. Cat food (mackerel) Dog food etc…
Having extra meal is the best.
