I am interesting in possibly setting up a 300-500 gallon bait hold tank. I am thinking of using the round poly tanks, with the manhole type access if I can locate one that is reasonable.
I know some of you guys have setups like these, and I think one would work well for me. Since I live only about 6 miles from the Kempson Bridge landing, it makes sense for me to catch bait occasionally to hold for future outings, because I don’t won’t to have to go half way towards town just to turn around after getting bait.
If any of you have pictures or advice to share I would appreciate it…I am not much into re-creating the wheel if I can learn from others.
David,
I use a 300 gallon square tank that works great. I have used it two ways and both work well. First I used one with a high pressure bubbler and held bait for over two weeks with little dead loss. The problem for me is that I have city water and cannot keep a continous drip keeping the water from getting algae. Last year I aquired another tank and adapted it with a homemade filter system similar to a vest tank where water is gravity fed through a filter box. This helped considerably with the water quality as well as added additional oxygen to the water.
Good luck,
Richy

Richy…I have well water at the house, so I think I will be ahead of the game there. I would like to take a quick peek at one already setup. If I can see it I can build it.
Hey David, been meaning to check on your bait tank project…Send me your email address and I will send you my powerpoint presentation for my home bait tank that I did for the club a while back…
