Bait/Lures for Stripers on Cooper???

Will be down at the Tailrace/Cooper chasing shad with the kid. In case we run into school of stripers, what would yall use? Back in LA i’ve caught plenty of lake stripers/hybrids using rattle traps, spinnerbates, and stick baits. I never fished for stripers that run up river before. Thanks yall

all those you mentioned will work at times.i would be trying something that looks like a shad in distress up the tailrace.i
fish for them earlier in the year when they are upriver in the salt.
different lures work there.you can also use live bait in the tailrace.

Last year during the summer had luck with flukes and hopkins spoons. Also some luck with small topwater baits. Flukes seem to be the most productive. If the current is running placing them on a jighead helps.

Striper swiper,Big 4 inch pink and white twister on a 3/4 lead head,Butterbean white 2-3 oz jig,Live fingers. When I chased Stripers on the Cooper thats what I used.

stonoman, congrats 0n 2400 posts.i need to try the finger mullet next year.ive caught them on everything else you mentioned.

Fingers free lined at the mouth of Horlbeck in about 10 feet of water worked pretty good for years. Its been so long I forget the creek names. Its the creek that goes back to the county park.Sit on the main river and throw back to the creek on the rising tide.Think I did that around March ,April.White bucktail worked really good back then.
