bait shrimp

Any help on cast netting some bait shrimp in the inlets or do I buy them and if I need to just buy live shrimp where can I even find them towards north myrtle.

Little early I think for bait shrimp around NMB,the only place in that area that carries live shrimp is Ocean Isle fishing center and that’s usually in late summer, early fall.

it will be june before I start trying anyway just trying to gather info before hand

Guess I’ll have to backtrack on my statement, ocean isle fishing center has live shrimp as of today.

Has any shrimp started showing up inshore at this point? I am new to the area. Also what weight per ft of radius is suggested during shrimp baiting season?
thanks

I found some bait sized shrimp in my minnow trap a few weeks ago. Same weekend I threw the net in some of my normal spots and got plenty of bait sized shrimp. Not huge, but big enough to catch plenty of over slot redfish.

Try throwing your net in deep holes at low tide!

Saw lots skipping today at Edisto today! Have a bad sholder and didn’t throw a net but lots of mudders in the trap!

saw shrimp skipping on Wando but only caught a few 1 inch ones in my minnow trap. wrong time of tide to cast net for them

Was in a creek off the May River on Sunday at low tide and we caught about 5 dozen in a half hour. Not big jumbo shrimp but just fine for bait. Some dufus left the plug out of the baitwell and they all snuck off, but there are bait shrimp in the creeks.

I wonder who that dufus was  I built the bait tank, I ain’t responsible for putting the plug in it
