I have a 4-day weekend coming up and plan on fishing a couple of days.
It looks like the wind is finaly going to lay down.
I haven’t been since early October. For anyone who has been since the cooler weather this week, are there still shrimp and mullet in the creeks ?
Thanks,
i caught enough shrimp and finger mullet in a very small creek yesterday to go fishing, and the trout were everywhere!
temp is reported at 63 in the harbor, so things are changing rapidly. i’d think you’ll still be fine this weekend if you have some good go-to bait creeks.
I was able to fill my bait bucket with MM and FM a week ago on the upper Wando with just a few casts. There were still a ton of large mullet jumping all over as well.
Thanks, that’s what I was hoping. Hopefully I’ll have a couple of good reports next week.
Thanks again,
Jack Taylor
2.5 weeks ago there must have been a million mullet(not kidding in the flat i fish. i mean they were every where as far as there was water.caught a few reds in there w them on zmans. i was just about to post the same question as much has changed in 2.5 weeks. i think my plan is to fish arties and if i see mullet/shrimp catch a few . i found a school of 200 probably fish and they would hit anything. Seems the fish in smaller schools or around docks were more picky and usually only hit the mullet or large shrimp or a perfectly presented zman. just my observations on my last trip 2.5 weeks ago. goodluck!i am so excited to go this weekend as i have not been in 2.5 weeks.three nights recently i have had dreams of me on my boat w reds in sight.

last 2 nights i went out on my pier on nowell creek and got less than 6 mullet total. A ton of decent eating size shrimp but the fish were scarce. This past sunday and monday i was culling mullet as bait because i was catching so many. Kicking myself in the arse now.
i really hope i can find some 4 to 5 inch mullet. if not i have good faith in my zmans. i may buy a few mud mins or shrimp if available just to have a variety/back up plan. I have really been catching more fish on artificial lately though. TT’s ,z man, and spinner and chatter baits. Either way, I’ll be on the water and that is all that really matters!

When the baitfish thin out this time of year, no worries. Throw some good plastics and if will be on. Early spring, and late fall rule for artificials.
