Bait Tank Battery

What group battery does everyone run their bait tank on? I have a 20-gallon I run on a 24-group and it’s never gone dead on me. I am going to upgrade probably to a 50-gallon and have to put down a permanent battery tray to run it. Just don’t want to put the wrong tray in if I need bigger than a 24 battery.

I run a Walmart lawnmower battery for about $19.00 and they run all day and night, are lite and last for years and don’t take up a lot of room!

What boatpoor said never had a problem with one I’ve run them all day and night as well without failure.

Just reel or get broke

I have Group 29 Cell Phone Tower batteries that I bought from Richy Brensinger last year sometime … They are heavy, but they have yet to fail on me … and they were certainly cheap enough to make it worth my while to get 6 of them from Richy …

If I’m buying batteries, then I have always bought the Walmart EverStart Marine Maxx group 29’s … I have these going back 15 years and they almost all still work … They start off as the starting battery, then migrate down to trolling motor then to bait tanks, then to shop batteries, then to the recycler … woreth every bit of the $89 they cost … IF you can find them - they sell out quick …

I use an Optima Yellowtop only because I had it. If not for that, I’d use a lawn mower battery for the reasons previously mentioned by boatpoor…

If you work anywhere that uses large UPS’s, they normally swap out the batteries periodically and you can still gets years out of them if they will let you have any.

The site I work at is shutting down this year and I’m hoping they will let me “dispose” of about 100 or so.

Just for info, I’ve used that lawnmower battery to crank my 25 el start Merc on my bait boat!

Let me know when you get another load of those in …

I have a use for them …

I run an old Suburban battery that went bad in the suburban on mine. Holds charge never fails.
