My buddy made one for keeping bait alive while fishing for catfish back home. He took a plastic 50 gal drum and cut it in half and kept the bottom. Took the top of the other half and fit it to the bottom for a lid. Cut a square opening for getting bait out. Made a swinging open lid and wired an aerator to it. Works great in the fresh water, I suppose it would work for salt. Also made a drain plug for it. Cool looking thing considering it was made from scratch.

I bought a 75 gallon livestock water trough from the feed store in Red Top. It has a threaded drain plug at the bottom for draining/exchanging water. I also have a submersible pump with a float switch for filling it up. I bought a double line aerator for pumping fresh air in. Rig is complete with a piece of marine plywood for the top. I have kept bait alive for a week or more by providing fresh water and fish food/pellets or with shrimp, a little fish meal.
