Go to Craigslist (Charleston) free and type in bamboo. There is a guy in Summerville that says he has pleny. 20-30 foot stalks.
If you live on James island there’s a whole LOT…AS IN A “lot” next to the Linda oquinn school/Hess station on harborview road. Call them…I’m sure they wouldn’t mind you clearing a few pieces for them!

Be careful New Years day I was gathering some bamboo and found a few snakes lingerings up high in some thick stuff. . . Scared the @#@# outta me. I wasnt expecting snakes to be out in january. . .
