Here’s my report from Wednesday:
Left lexington at 5:30 with a brand new crew for some bottom fishing and maybe a little trolling. i was really pumped, great forcast, weather and playing hooky from work, what could go wrong. First bad omen, the gas station where we met up which is usually open at 5am isn’t open, hmm. No big deal. The drive down was good right up til we hit bumper to bumper traffic past the Summerville exit, and then the dang truck died. I was like, how can this be? I just put 2 new gold’s in the dually in April, I even always put a charger on the truck every night before a trip to Charleston. This is my boat pulling truck, ain’t much but I keep the maintenance up really good or so i thought. Well, no big deal, I’ve got 4 fully charged batteries on the boat, I’ll just rob one for the rest of the ride down. Except I forgot to load the boat tool bag, I’ve never done that before, I’m like WTH? Lucky I can get my crimp tool to loosen and reconnect the batteries, back under power! We get to Mt pleasant, I’m like at this point lets go pick up some squid, no need to be in a hurry now. One stop for fuel, then another for squid. Takes 1 hour, finally we get to Remelys. We pull the old battery switch a roo, back from the truck to the boat. Every body is smiling now as we head through the harbor, figured we head se to some live bottom, 20 miles out, jackpot! Spotted a milk crate floating, circle back around and there is like 5 triple tails under it. I was like, I’m about to show these boys how to catch some fish! These sob’s won’t bite nothing, we took turns, but nadda. Oh well let’s go catch some bottom fish. At this point, I’m telling these guys we gonna catch some fish on the bottom, don’t worry… As i turn the boat se, and continue the trip plotted, I noticed the Garmin was not turning or pointing the right direction, it’s frozen up! I’ll be a son of a b@tch!!! A brand new, just added it in April, it’s was the backup to the other Garmin that I already had on the boat. It unfortunately had died over
Sorry about your misfortune(s), man, and glad y’all got back safely. Oh yeah, and fabulous story!

A client left bananas on my boat during the hurricane. Thankfully it survives

Down here is where a signature goes but they can confuse and anger some people so I don’t have one.
Don’t get me wrong. I respect the banana bugaboo. Any friends who believe this I follow the line and don’t bring any.
However; I’ve had some epic trips with lots of bananas for anyone who wants one. I well remember a few times words to the effect: “well so much for the banana theory”
I guess any brand of electronics can fail. I’ve heard words about my Raymarine stuff. So far so good. My last trip went late due to battery issues. Stuff happens. Glad nothing major went bad for you. Stay safe always

Some days you’re the hammer, some days you’re the nail. At least you all made it back safe and sound and have a story you can chuckle about.

Don’t forget to pay attention to that little roulette wheel that spins around.
Glad to hear everyone was safe and you were able to laugh it off. However, I agree with you…“Always frisk your crew for stow away bananas!”

We fished the dolphin tounement in the spring with the family as crew. Mid morning the starboard engine battery died but we kept trolling. Got a pig of a dolphin on in the 40# range with enough time to make it to weight in. The hook pulled 20 from the boat. WTH! I said it’s like we got a crate of bananas on the boat. After along ride home we get to the landing and my future son in law breaks out a fresh shirt with a thousand tiny bananas on it. no bananas in my boat. Not even an image!

Good read. We went fishing in Costa Rica on 10/10/16, we got not far from the beach and one of our crew pulled out a banana they brought from the resort. I didn’t notice til the captain freaked out telling them No Banana’a throw overboard. The crew didn’t really understand what to think but the Capt made it very clear he wasn’t going any further with the banana on the boat. Glad y’all made it home safely.

I don’t believe a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work. I hate bad fishing days.
I guess it depends on your perspective. How bad was the bad day and how good was the good day. I would take making $100,000 day trading over sinking my boat any day of the week.
