Banchee cowbells

Been hearing some good things about the banchee cowbells lately. What do Yall think about them? Are they actually worth the money? What speeds are the best to troll these at? Thanks

They remind me alot of billy baits from candh. I have had good success on billy baits. Especially the red and black heavy head.

I have a pair of them. Basically every time we are out we get a hard strike on them. We have caught a good number of fish on them. I pull the 16 oz ones. We also have a buddy who pulls one in his spread on the flat line all day. He has caught a few that way as well. We using run about 10-15mph. Stagger them a good bit. one 80-100 yards and the other 200 plus. 80W and 50W bent butt. They are worth the $$$ IMO

yes, the biannual banchee advertisement is upon us.

Thanks guys. Raleighd4, is the 16oz cowbells more productive than the bigger ones? It’d sure save some money just buying those instead. Any other information will be appreciated

You know what else works? Ballyhoo and seawitches. At regular trolling speed. Its crazy. You just put them out there, troll them around, and the wahoo eat them. Give it a shot.

Do not tell fish stories where the people know you; but particularly, don’t tell them where they know the fish.

Right on Touche! I bought a set of “cowbells” and they still have the stink on them after trolling them for many hours.

Right now I’ve got to take care of a soggy house in Marion. I may be able to push that back to Sunday. Reel Dirty is back from the dead also and is hell bent on hitting the ocean this weekend. I’ll be in touch.

One of the best offshore lures I ever had was a fired 3 1/2" red shotgun shell rigged on wire with a bunch of wild turkey feathers hot glued inside the shell and a 7/0 hook. Ugly. A wahoo killer! The real pretty lures catch mostly cash!

true that!

i have caught a bunch of YF on a sawed off broom handle when i ran out of angry poppers.

The cowbells work good. We caught 7 wahoo in a half day in August on the full moon. Pulled cowbells on the corners and bart candies on the longs at 15 knots. The bart candy series will pull well from the rigger clips going that fast with no weight needed.

i drag cowbell almost 300 miles not a bite, drop the dead bait catch fish, so maby one day i might snag a wahoo on cowbell

they are terrible
i would not use them especially if you are in a wahoo tournament

Some days high speed lures work better than bait and some days they definitely don’t. We will never know why btn the 2 presentations but I have caught wahoo on every high speed lure I own, including 3 cowbells. The lure itself won’t catch a fish that isn’t there and the boat driver and conditions have alot to do with whether the cowbell “works” or doesn’t. get out there and experiment

They suck!!

My philosophy has always been that when you are high-speeding you get away with being able to run big, heavy, flashy lures bc you are looking for a reaction strike. If you are going to troll bait it gives a wahoo more time to “eye-ball” what its about to eat so you better pair it down to as light of fluoro and wire that you are comfortbale with. I completely agree with you that moon phase and staying on bait/structure in the proper depth has a lot more to do with whether or not you’re catching wahoo.

Edit: I think most of your big fish come off the high-speed reaction strikes, doesn’t give them as much time to think about whether they should eat or not.
