Fished Sunday aboard the Bandarstick. Decided to try the Ropper’s fishing forecast. Started out in 120 ft a little NW of the Ed Banks. Fished about 2 hours in 120-130 ft and boated about a half dozen barracudas and had alot of short strikes. Wonder if using the smaller islanders would have improved the hookup ratio. Then, we finally boated our only dolphin of the day in about 130 ft. He was 18# on the scale. Tried the ledge around Royal Terrace and out deeper to 220 ft and couldn’t find anything other than more barracudas. Did see a billfish jump off the bow, but he never came into our spread. Didn’t hear much on the ratio, either. One boat reported 2 dolphin and another hooked a sail. Guess the fish are spread out now with the warmer water.
glad you got out there ben. how’s the boat running?
BRAINSTORM

Hi Daniel. Boat ran pretty well. Wasn’t quite at it’s normal cruising speed at 3500 rpm, but seemed to improve as the day progressed. Probably due to bottom growth. Michael had new Raymarine electronics installed, so we’re in the process of entering the waypoints. He got caught in a severe t-storm a few weeks ago with his family and kids. Winds at Bohickett were clocked at 67 mph. Took him about 2 hours to get from 4KI to the mouth of the NE, but the boat handled the 7-8+ seas and got everyone home safely.

trim the skirts on the islanders to cut back on the short strikes
