Barely a fishing report, but a great day.

Finally got the oppurtunity to get the boat wet, and wet a couple lines. Started out later than we wanted, but didn’t stop the good times. Put the boat in at Eptings landing. Super nice people, and a good landing too. $3 to put the boat in, and he refused a tip. Headed to a little island on the way to the big water, with out any success, couldn’t even get the dadblam anchor to bite. We were in a slope where the depths made a fairly drastic change. 50’ to 15’ figured we would fish the slope. GPS called it stinky creek, kids got a kick out of that. The kids were getting antsy so we rode around a little while and cooled off.
Next spot we tried was a really small island on the way back to our finger of the lake. Fished just a few minutes and got a bite, turtle I’m guessing he would pull line but never give any back. Then the girls caught several limb brims. Finally BAM. Fish on. My oldest brings a catfish to the boat.

Not bad. Wish we would have brought ice to put him on. Released to fight another day.
Then by the time we got that one unhooked. The littlest gets a bite. Her first fish.

Either way. We had a great day on the water. Those were the only 2 fish brought to the boat.
Both can cast by the

Can’t beat a good day on the water with the family!

That’s what it’s all about. Great post.

BTW, if the bite you had started taking line was a slow steady pulling on the line it was likely a gar. As you fish the lake more you will eventually hook one. They can be a nuisance, but pretty cool to see if you never caught one and kids are fascinated by them.

Nice post. Looked like everyone was having fun!
