Anyone built, mounted bat houses? Looking to up the population around my neighbor hood and cattle farm.
Input and advise would be greatly appreciated.
I have actually thought about doing the same. They say they eat the crap out of mosquitoes. There are several sites with easy plans. I am told, do not paint them???

I mounted one on a gable end of a barn, and two more in a very large, old live oak tree. Had to add a 2X6 to the oak limb so I could screw the boxes to that, its a vertical limb that runs to the top of the tree. The boxes I have are made out of cypress.
I just turn this on once in a while when the mosquitoes get thick:
