Battery Recomenndations

I need to replace the batteries in my 20’ cc. I have a 2003 yamaha 150 2 stroke with a perco switch. I been reading about some of the different manufacturers and of course they all seem great. Who in charleston has the best battery and pricing.

I just got a Marine for 65:00 at Wally world

replaced the exact same battery that was 6 years old

Woodfloats?

Wally world or costco.

I have to agree that Wal-Mart has some well priced batteries and they are pretty good unless you are putting them to extreme applications. If you are using them for offshore or on an incredibly bumpy rig I would tempted to go higher end otherwise they are cheaper and do very well

“Go Tech GO”

diehard marine platniums

I got 2 on my boat and been very happy

West marine has a sale right now. If ya really want a reiable batt and have the $$$ Optimas are great.

I just put 2 new Interstate Batteries in my boat. Replaced the Cranking battery and the deep cycle. Check with Barrier Island Marine on Johns Island, they have them in stock.

Stop or I’ll shoot!

If you have really rough use and conditions, the Optimas and other gel-cells are the only way to go.
Otherwise, for normal use, go w/ Wally’s and keep your receipt.
Mine seem to ‘go bad’ just before the free replacement is up. [:0]

Since there is a sale at west marine I will probably check them out and get a good charger, I think I killed my last set using an old 1980 charger, I think I probably over charged and cooked the cells. WalMart sells enough stuff anyway, need to keep the guys at westmarine workin.

we jokingly refer to walmart Everstart batteries as “NEVERstarts”
see lots of failures with them.
Interstate, deka, optima, trojan, exide, all good batteries.
we sell interstate, and have only seen 1 go bad in the past 2 years.

I’m now at www.teamcharlestonmarine.com

Also be aware that not all chargers work on all types of batteries.

I agree Stay away from the “Never Starts”
