Battery Voltage

Boat is a 01 key west 22’ cc, ox66 200hp, after realizing battery not charging.did some troubleshooting Yamaha manual sucks!! Found the rectifier/regulator fubar!! Bought new one from eBay, all better, but noticed the volt gauge was .4-.5 volts lower than actual battery voltage, any way to recal that gauge?

The rectifier/regulator on my 2000 F100 fried itself (burned a hole right through the back) several years ago; replaced it and the voltage meter and all seemed well for a while. Then the engine started running rough and cutting out at high speed. The problem was sporadic and would not occur in the shop. It was misdiagnosed as a fuel problem and paid a bunch for a carburetor rebuild that I probably didn?t need. Problem seemed to go away and then came back. Finally, Seels took it out on the river and properly diagnosed that the problem was in the power command module, AKA the computer. So you should replace your voltage meter and if you start having ignition problems, have the computer checked out.

Before you do that… are you sure your wiring to the batteries and the console are not black and rotted?

A bad cable will fry a voltage regulator.

check the voltage at the gauge before you condemn the gauge
