battery water

So I put my two trolling motor batteries in the truck today and one tipped over while riding. The battery acid leaked out (just a little bit of it leaked out). Should I put water in there then charge it up or should I get something else to top it off? This is a deep cycle battery by the way.

I’d just top it off with some distilled water.

What are the adverse affects of using tape water, if any? I have always just topped mine of with that. Am I cutting battery life short?

Most tap water has too many minerals in it that will set up on and attack the plates - also tap water will promote corrosion on the terminals for the same reasons.

I would recommend you replace what leaked out with electrolite. It’s easy to buy at any auto parts store… If we are talking a few drops then yes distilled water…

Distilled water, then a good charge.
