I am looking at a battle 6000 combo for throwing top water plugs offshore. Have read some reviews and they talk about a clicking sound when slow reeling. Has anyone had this issue with the Penn battles?

i like my 6000 combo… its on a trevala 66mh… i cant say i have herd or noticed a clicking noise or anything odd. it has a 2 years on my combo with 40+inch reds, few med sharks and working flawless… i really like the 6000 for overall size and line capacity… it fits in with the cabo80,vm150’s and such it.
I have fished 3 different conflicts. 3,4, and 8000. Paired with good rod you won’t find better in its price range. For the small $ price diff between battle and conflict id at least recommend giving it a feel at the store.
The conflict is the way to go. fter years of dislike for penn spinning gear someone gave me a conflict to test out. I really like the reel and will be adding several more to my collection soon.
I have three 7000’s that have had the snot kicked out of them over the last two years, AJ’s, grouper, kings, dolphin, blackfin, and even one wahoo. I fish them on terez and trevalla rods with 50# braid. All are still in great shape, even the drags. I lost all faith in Penn with the continued failure of the handles on my 850’s. But I love these reels.

Look good for the hell you give them Paul. I have a Fierce 4000 and 5000 on my jigging rods and they both have been good to me. Thats why I am thinking about the Battle 6000 for a plug caster. Just a little upgrade without breaking the bank. Looks like its a winner.
Thanks everyone for your input.

I have a 6000 - going on its second year now. 60#+ AJ’s - about 20 AJ’s total, 2 big Cuda, a King or so, 100’s & 100’s of bottom fish, 2 Cobia, one complete freight train of unknown species, Bull reds, Bonnet Heads, and a few big ole Rays at the Grillage.
The reel looks and feels brand new. Spooled with 350 yards of 30# braid on a custom built rod that I picked up used for $30… worth every penny.
