On behalf of the LKA I’d like to thank the local kayak fishing community for their support of this tourney. We had 44 participants and raised $1585 for the Lowcountry SC Chapter of Heroes On The Water! Thanks to all our wonderful local retailers who donated items for prizes and the raffle: Palmetto State Armory, Haddrell’s Point Tackle, The Charleston Angler, Time Out Sports, Z-Man, and The Lowcountry Fly Shop. Also want to thank Orion Coolers for their generous donation of a Orion 25 cooler. Special thanks to Angus MacBride of the SCDNR for coming out and supporting our tournament, too. Pics are now up on the LKA website (link below sig)

It sounds like you guys had a great tournament, and great turnout. I met several really nice anglers fishing our dock. I do want to say that I hope the guy that cut/stole our minnow trap, and emptied our bait bucket, that had mullet and shrimp didn’t win. I also hopes he knows that all the bait he stole was for my 8 year old son who threw a cast net for hours Friday evening catching all that bait so he could fish Saturday. I should say that I don’t know 100% that it was someone in your tournament, but was definitely a kayaker that morning.

Sorry to hear that happened…I would hope it wasn’t anyone in our group. Did you get a look at the guy who did it?

I wish I did! I moved the minnow trap and bait bucket earlier that morning and they were there and full of bait. Then I went back to the house for breakfast on the back porch with family that was in town. We saw 5-6 kayakers paddling, fishing, and hanging around the dock during that time. I went back out there right after breakfast and that’s when we noticed the minnow trap line was cut and bait bucket was empty. I hate a thief to begin with, but especially when it affects my kids. He lives to fish and was super disappointed after working so hard to get the bait, and now his trap that he bought is gone. Lesson learned for all of us I guess:)
