Pics attached of boxed fish today. Where are the pics? Oh! Must be pre-season.
For the last two weeks watched every temp. chart available, read the reports and couldn’t stand it any longer. Had to go.
The last three days showed the temp. break steadily pushing offshore. Pics do not lie as the ones attached are proof. It was indeed very far offshore. Original intent was to go to 226 hole but the last SST showed a small tit of semi-warm (68) water at the 380 hole so decided to go there first. Went about 10 nm past and then to Charleston peaks and then to 226 hole. Warmest water I could find was 66 on the way to 226. There we must have snagged a Right Whale as a 50 was completely spooled. A little later we hooked a mahi-mahi (10lbs). He spit the hook, hence the attached pics.
We worked the area a little longer and then picked up and went to Comanche. Spotted a school of peanuts of which we had two knockdowns with the attached pics for proof of results. Commenced to bottom fish with nota (pics attached). Decided to give it one last try at Charleston 60. Resultant pics attached.
Only one other boat on the water in 75ft today. Hope they had better luck.
Always believe the pics. Pay attention to the moon. Remember, no matter how many shooting stars, meteorites or comets, your wishes may not come true.
We had a great crew (one was out of uniform) and our skills are polished for the upcoming season and Budwiser will continue to ride out the economic recession for another week or so due to our contributions.
Something tells me…er, I mean, the weather report and the reefcast is telllin me, I ain’t waitin till Easter for a trip to the hot water and the land of Maui Wowies, maybe even screaming drags with Wahoos glued on.
One thing is for certain, My reels will have clickers engaged…
And I will have mates with jay oh bees on board.
You in or out?
Lights On Baby!
Fishing on the bottom is like having sex with the lights turned off. It feels good but I wanna see it.
Lights On!
