Bay boat opinions

I’m thinking about upgrading from my 18’ to something in the 21’ range in a bay boat. If I do it’ll be a year or two away. I have looked at the sea hunt bay boats, but all I had to crawl around in was a new bx22 pro. I liked it, but I think I would be happier with the xp21. I also looked online at the pathfinder boats and I really like those, but haven’t been able to look at them in person and i think they will be out of my price range anyway. I also looked at the new seafox20, but I’m not sold on the quality, but they have come a long way from what they were. I was just wondering if anyone has any input on the newer bay boats out there now. I may not even buy another boat, but sometimes I wish I had a bigger one with more storage.

Sportsman(look like a great midline), pathfinder, scout(my favorite) sea pro, key west. There’s a ton! Might help narrowing your price range, new or used? Also I’ve heard you wanna upgrade at LEAST 3 or more or you wont be happy.
We’ll be in the market about that time and im looking at the Sportsman 227 seriously

Ill have to look at sportsman as well, just haven’t yet. I personally like the pathfinder 2200TRS the best so far.

Hey, you might want to check out tidewater boats. Great looking boats (my personal favorite is the 22 carolina bay) and pretty affordable. hope this helps

Had a 22 pathfinder and it is a great boat . I moved up to a 24 pathfinder for a little more room. . There is no one perfect boat but I have been really satisfied with the pathfinders. Go see the guys at barrier island marine

It is what it is!

X2 on a 24 Pathfinder. I had a 22 before this one. Both are great boats. For a lesser price I’d look at a Tidewater Carolina Bay.

Wait for it…

I have a SeaFox 21 now - I got a great deal on it that I couldn’t (at the time) pass up. It has the tunnel hull, which I really like. That said, when the kiddos get out and through college, I will most likely retire this one and replace it with a KeyWest. I really like the new KW bay. The 21 I have has plenty of fishing room, but storage is non existent. I might would upsize to a 24, but don’t know how much the extra 3 feet will affect smaller creek fishing. I think the 21 - 22 is a good all around size for a varity of fishing styles.

Skeeter makes a nice bay boat. My ZX22 Bay is 21’ 10". Skeeter also makes a 20’ bay with max hp of 150. I bet the 20’ will fly with the new 150SHO. The only downside is that you will have to drive a little bit to go see one–no dealers in Charleston. You will have to go to Lake City for the closest dealer.

If you go in the direction of Pathfinder, talk to the guys at Barrier Is Marine as Fritz noted. Good people.

Stonoman just got a brand new 21xp. Yeah scout and pathfinder are my favorites, but i wa trying to toss a couple cheaper options… Shearwater makes a BA 24’ saltfishers got one

tigerfin, i currently have a key west 230BR under construction.i wasn t in the market for a new boat in any fashion, saw the boat at a show and here i am. ordered it through brian at the boat shed in georgetown. they also have a 21 ft model. don t know about the 210, but there is a back log on the 230. don t know if that s what you re looking for, but check it out. saw dgasques comments on clemson football in the shrimping forum. i hate to hurt his feelings, but do you realize that we haven t beaten carolina since obama was elected

I second that on the Pathfinder. I have the 23HPS and it is a great combination boat. You can fish shallow (1.5 feet) or hit the reef/offshore when the weather allows. I fish also with a friend of mine that has the 20 Tidewater. It has that Carolina flare that is pretty impresive. I had a 20 Ft. BayScout a couple of years ago. Not a bad bayboat either…just kept having little problems with equipment on it (bilge pumps, live wells, lights).
