be down week after the 4th

Haven’t been around the site (or the beach) much lately. Going to be at the Isle of Palms the week after the fourth. Will be dropiing the yaks in the water at Wild Dunes Marina. We used to head right out of the marina and past the bridge. Any fish (trout/bass) hanging at the bridge these days? Used to get some trout at the bridge and reds in some of the smaller creeks just around the corner past the bridge. Still any good?

how long are you going to be down??I’ll be coming down at the end of the week and would like to go out. I’m going out even if I have to go by myself. this will be my first time kayaking outside of the shem creek/patriots point area. if you will still be there after the tenth i’d love to maybe get together and go yakkin.

when ya’ll want to fish… I can usually be anywhere in chas area around 3pm weekdays and have weekends off.
I’ve done good at the bridge area in the fall, not sure this time of year.

I’m not sure when highlander is heading back but I’ll be down the night of the tenth and can fish fram sat morn to prob wed anytime. just let me know when and where.

how about shem creek Saturday morning daylight, we can fish that creek, in front of golf course and the harbor marina?

That sounds great but I don’t think I can make that. I wont be getting into town until about midnight or later on fri night/sat morn. I won’t even have time to get everything put back together and ready to go by then. Any other time would work. if things change and I get there earlier I will let you know but I appreciate the offer. if you go out any more before wed I’d love to tag along. thanks.

How about Copahee sound put-in, Sunday… 5-10 miles north of mt.pleasant. where are you staying at?

I’m actually staying in west ashley with family. I have high tide access to the stono from a creek but it’s not real close to anything that I can come up with for fishing. I can easily do Sun and actually I’m working on getting off tomorrow a little after lunch and that would allow me to go sat morning at shem creek. Copahee sounds much easier for me to make. if Sun is what we decide is ther anyway that maybe we could meet sat and talk about some gear and tackle that I might not have that you would suggest?

I have plans for the motorboat Sat with a friend, but you can call me 5576637.
Gonna try for Copahee Sunday morning about 30min before Sunrise so I can net some bait. Might want to bring a short piece of rope in case the water is low.
Anyone else gonna be out there?
Scott

I’d love to tag along, if you dont mind a newbie being out there…

So, how is the fishing in Copahee?

I’m up in Murrells Inlet and have been aiming for McClellanville or Awendaw/Bull Island, Copahee isn’t that much farther.

Slow at Copahee… there has been a lot of pressure lately… The bite has slowed down a LOT out there… finding tailing fish deep in the grass wiht the fly rod is better than regular fishin but all in all it has slowed WAAAYYYYY down… you’ll still catch fish but it’s harder now and the fish are spookier then before… I am goingto start fishing other areas for a while and at least do my small part to relieve some of the pressure…

I believe so, but I haven’t been there in person. They have a town landing.

If you have Google Earth, search Jeremy Creek and look from the ICW up Jeremy Creek, it’s visible on the right. About the third dock up.

I am not sure if there’s a fee for non residents or not, or any other details.

There is also a canoe landing somewhere down there, maybe closer to Awendaw. I have passed it on the way to Charleston but didn’t have time to explore it and cannot find it on the net.

edit to add: I found it, a little down this page:

edit to add: I am probably going soon with a friend from up this way, maybe as soon as Monday if you want to meet up. I have never been fishing there but have GPS on the fish finder so feel pretty secure about exploring it if the tide is right.

cut & CHS
Man, wish I had checked this thread. After a week of no responses, I just stopped looking. I’ll try again next time. Vicki and I ended up just playing in the surf with the yaks. First time we had done that. It is true what they say, getting out is much easier than coming in. Many flips riding the waves in, but lots of fun (tips, as always appreciated). Thanks for the offers, cut I will try to contact ya next time down.

Good luck,
David (wishing I was there and not back here at work) Hurayt

fyi: we are on Wilderness System Tarpon 120s, one fully rigged with GPS and depthfinder, both with milk crates that have 4 tubes for rods/nets/other (usually rods, although Vicki sometimes uses her center forward tube for a shade umbrella) and two rod holder on each for trolling a couple of baits while paddling.
