Beads For Carolina Rigs

I was at Academy Sports this past weekend and saw some red beads I like for tying Carolina Rigs, (between the lead and the swivel) but left them on the shelf as they were over $10 for a 50 count bag.

I got these today at Wally World, a 200 count bag for a $2.

I’m not sure the grass carp nor the reef donkeys will know the difference.

What say you?

Are they glass or plastic
I like glass

I get mine from Hobby Lobby. Large collection of colors and sizes

@sman

They are plastic I’m sure

I don’t think we have a Hobby Lobby in Charleston anymore. Michael’s would be the go to spot.

Unless there’s one in Mt P, but I don’t venture over there much lately.

I bought some plastic beads one time a long time ago, sold as a tackle making component, and at the time thought they were something special. I paid a higher price for them, compared to beads that I had seen in crafts stores. I learned that they are not any different than what’s sold in the hobby & crafts stores. I have seen some “higher” quality beads, but for the price differences, I’ve never seen that it matters, especially for bait rigs that may get lost to snags.

I also have some glass and some brass beads that I have used for Carolina rigs and use them, and don’t get too concerned with prices. I don’t buy a lot of them, so it’s not any big deal.

Too many products are sold at higher prices, and they try to convince people they are something special, and in most cases that’s not true, but folks will still buy them. :roll_eyes:

23 there is a hobby lobby in mt p behind the old Cracker Barrel on 17 at 6 mile rd, also 1 on rivers in Old Sports authority building across from mall in North Charleston. (If going I highly recommend Mt P)

Santa running late. Czech glass per smans recommendation. I never really thought much about the sound difference between glass and acrylic, I was just thinking shock absorbing stuff.

Packs of 25 are about $2 plus the shipping. These should last me the rest of my Carolina rigging daze.
