Hi All!
This Columbia/Georgetown girl is planning a vacation in your neck of the woods in August for some fishing. Since my fishing experience in South Carolina has taken me no further south than Bulls Bay, I thought I would pick the brains of the experts.
First off… I AM NOT ASKING FOR ANYONE’S FISHING SPOTS! I figured I could scout out some spots on my own with a trusty map… but it would be nice to get a couple of opinions as to which area, in general, is a better producer for my inshore favs… (reds, trout, flounder,etc.). Of course, I did just get some excellent info earlier from Islander on some tarpon techniques which I think would be a blast to try… So the poll is open! Beaufort or Edisto Area??? After my trip I will definitely report back as to what I found… I am usually pretty good at finding reds in a strange place!!
Thanks Guys! ![]()
This past weekend we caught a mess of flounder and under sized reds at Edisto. If you decide to go to Edisto shoot me an email, and I can give you some advice on where to fish.
When I first saw this post I didn’t want to chime in since I’ve never fished out of Beaufort and hardly ever fish inshore around Edisto. Yet due to the limited response, I felt obligated to do so. I have heard recent reports of the reds showing up around Deveaux Bank and further up the North Edisto. Those are from local reports as well as reports from this site. I’ve also heard that the flounder are in some of the smaller tidal creeks, so depending on how big of a boat you got you might be able to get some of those as well.
That’s about all that I know as far as what’s here (Edisto) and what’s not inshore at the time. Again, it’s limited knowledge and doesn’t compare the two locations, but only one other person has replied and their information seemed to be inline with mine.
Good luck.
I live in Beaufort during the weekend and Charleston during the week, I fish beaufort A LOT, Edisto I have never fished. I would recommend going to beaufort and fish out near the ocean channels first and then do the feeder creeks when the tide’s right. Shoot me an email and I’ll give you some pointers on where to go if you decide. ![]()
Inshore Beaufort has tons of shrimp right now, no problem catching bait. We caught 15 or so spottail last saturday, they were all on the smaller side though. Trout are becoming very active around the deeper shell rakes. If you come down to Bft. try the western waters, Coosaw, Huspa, Whale Branch ect, there is a lot less boat traffic and just as many fish. Good Luck!

Ditto what Backlash and Yardbot said. Also the Spanish are thick off the outer range marker, PR sound. Also the kings are close on live bottoms. Good luck.

Thanks everyone for the tips! It sounds like either Beaufort or Edisto will be productive next weekend. I will let you guys know how I made out and pass on any hotspots I hopefully uncover!! If anyone would like any info I may have for my neck of the woods (Pawleys to Cape Romain), I will be happy to share! ![]()
I’m interested in the Romain area…maybe I could swap some Chas. spots with you?? mail me at reelescape1@yahoo.com when you get back</font id=blue>

I wonder how many other people read down hoping to see pics of this girl and a mess of fish. I am often disappointed by posts where people ask for advice then don’t follow up.

Now that’s funny right there.
