Went out early this AMs…great flood tide saw a few tailers nothing special…Sat at a creek mouth and tossed a line out to sit with some shrimp and wait for the tide to begin going out to hit a few spot tail…my buddy was having problems so sat the rod down for a moment (in the deck) and walked to front of boat to assist, as soon as I could turn my head my rod shot out of the boat and took a nice dive to the bottom…saw it pull a v-line for about 10 yards and was gone…sad sad day…however ended up with a few trout / spot…decent size, water is clearing up, still pretty warm…
I know the feeling. Have a nice Shimano Rod and a Stractic 1000 reel at the bottom of the ICW lost last season. And by the way, if you see a bomber popping court with a big red hooked to it swimming around the Stono, It’s mine lol. Lost it Thur.

One of the rules on my boat is if the rod is fishing and not in your hand, it is in a rod holder.

yeah I agree, I’m an idiot…i had it set in my fly rod holder on the gunnel, still got ripped right out…
