It has been a few months since the last time I was able to get out on the water and chase any fish around…
Made it out last Monday with a couple of my college students from Church. We started out on the Edisto 40 in one of their boats in the morning and caught a few triggers, some grunts, sharks and hooked 2 cobia… Got both of the cobia to the boat just to have them pull off.
Went back in and fished behind Harbor Island in the afternoon/evening and found a few fish willing to play. We saw 4 fish and caught three of them. The smallest fish was 8.5 lbs the biggest was just shy of 12.
It was a lot of fun taking these guys up in the grass and letting them experience hunting the fish as they tailed around.
It is amazing what kind of great conversations you can have with young men when they are out on the water and a lot of the distractions in this world are removed!
Bryson,
The boat we fished out of the morning we went to the reef was an early 2000’s Wellcraft 23’ with a 250 four stroke yamaha.
The waves were only around 2’ but sloppy so it made for a slow ride.
The boat in the pictures is mine, its a 2012 Ranger 184 Ghost.
I saw the picture of the waves behind the trigger, then saw you guys standing on a flats boat… I was about to put it at the top of my short list for new boats!
